You might automatically think that such a revolution is dangerous, but we cannot deny that these advances around technology have made our lives easier and more comfortable and they allow us to develop better as a city as well as a society.
TalkyCar, which has been accelerated by FINODEX, started out as an enterprise creating solutions for IoT and smart cities. After success in the software development sector, the team adapted their focus to working on a project for taxi drivers, to improve the way in which they drive at work. During the research phase, they came to the realization that not only was this idea reliable, but that there was great potential in the market for an app that could monitor, track and control a vehicle, not just for taxi drivers, but for a wider spectrum of consumers.
The device was created to better the way in which we drive, helping the entire motion to be safer and more efficient. It is incredibly easy to set up and is compatible with most vehicles as it only requires the installation of a gadget in the diagnostic port, which is usually located under the steering wheel. The device connects the given vehicle with your smartphone, synchronizing the switchboard with the mobile. This allows TalkyCar to track any trips, monitoring the driving style to detect fuel efficiency and to provide advice on routes and parking etc. One of the most important features of the product is the ability to detect crashes and then advising medical assistance and relatives of the driver´s situation. With all of these features accumulated into one device, TalkyCar can guarantee the driver with all relevant information that they could want as well as a vital attention to safety and taking precautions.
All of this is possible due to the inside details that we as customers, don’t see so much of – It all comes down to the technology involved in ensuring the compatibility with Smart-City environments and other related solutions. TalkyCar chose to work alongside FIWARE so that they could use a variety of enablers to provide the app and consequently customers with the required quality data. The TalkyCar Backend was developed using FIWARE technology to allow the data generated from the vehicles to be stored and managed. It then uses the COSMOS Generic Enabler to analyze the data readying for availability to the drivers.
The TalkyCar team has received a huge amount of support from, namely their accelerator FINODEX in the form of both technical and business mentors, allowing them to successfully advance with their development. Already as a project they have established a solution that makes use of a huge amount of enablers and the challenge now is to provide such devices with the relevant data to feed to end clients and companies with a FIWARE backend infrastructure.
Such technologies will not only make driving and traffic management better and safer for everyone but connected and autonomous vehicle technology will help optimize roadway utilization, potentially saving billions in future infrastructure expansion.
