The Powered by FIWARE accelerator frontierCities2 has launched a new call for proposals, targeting startups and SMEs in the Smart Cities sector.

EU-funded, under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, frontierCities 2 is offering up to €75,000 equity free funding for projects with already developed FIWARE-powered solutions and applications in the Smart Urban domain.

This second Open Call for Market Acceleration Grants (MAG2) was launched on 29th November 2017. The deadline for Applicants is due on 31st January 2018.

Created as a leap forward towards an even bigger market, frontierCities 2 puts together the success and the expertise gathered during the first accelerator programme. This top-level spinoff is built upon an exceptional geographical reach, including FIWARE technology deployment in cities all across Europe, and 28 SMEs and startups who developed and trialed 28 Smart Mobility solutions in 45+ urban environments across the continent.

Selected startups & SMEs will have the opportunity to receive tailored technical and commercial support to succeed in their Market take-up phase. They should meet the following requirements:

1. MAG2 Grants are dedicated only to powered by FIWARE applications for the Smart Cities domain, already developed during earlier EU FI-PPP programmes (Phase 1 and 2) or during the FI-PPP Phase 3 – A16 acceleration programme.
2. Applicants must be startups or SMEs established in a EU Member State or H2020 Associated Country.
3. Applicants must prove that their powered by FIWARE Application has been piloted in real life environment, with a relevant number of users in collaboration with a city and/or corporate/industrial partner and/or other institutional entity and for a reasonable period of time (Simulations are not accepted).
