On behalf of the FIWARE Foundation and the entire organizing team of the FIWARE Global Summit in Porto, we’d like to thank every single person who attended and supported the event. Each one of you has made this occasion a true success!

A special thank you to those of you who worked during the last weeks with an engagement and intensity that was much higher than one would normally expect. With this performance I’m sure that we will be able to develop the Summit to an event with more than 1000 participants by 2020.” expressed Ulrich Ahle, CEO of the FIWARE Foundation.
We can look back on a successful event with 90 speakers from 6 different continents, both from within and outside the FIWARE Community, sharing knowledge and presenting projects from all over the world. The event was organized upon 4 main tracks: Cities, Industry, AgriFood and Developers, unfolding across 51 tech and business sessions, with use cases, keynotes and panel discussions. The event also offered an Exhibition Area to showcase Powered by FIWARE smart services and solutions. In addition, training and matchmaking took place in the form of parallel activities like the Open Camp, organized by FIWARE Mexico and FIWARE Mundus, and the ‘Doing Business’ space, welcoming more than 30 startups whilst accommodating brokerage events and f2f meetings with investors and cities.
The Plenary Sessions offered the latest news around FIWARE and shared the Foundation’s plans for the future to keep driving the Community and enlarging the reach of our Ecosystem. It was announced that Smart Energy will become the fourth vertical of focus, hereby furthering the development of the platform. In turn, the event hosted a total of 19 open Community Meetings. Over the course of the 2-day event, the 574 attendees, coming from more than 135 cities, from 36 different countries, had the opportunity to meet and connect with fellow entrepreneurs and innovators, and people working in the same field, often from far away.
We keep growing Summit after Summit. We therefore look forward to presenting new collaborations and activities, as well as interesting content, educating and entertaining at the same time. And we won’t stop: the next FIWARE Summit was announced at the closing session in Porto. Our next event will take place in the beautiful City of Málaga on the 26th to 28th of November, and we look forward to seeing you all there.
To further improve our preparations for the next Summit, a Call for Contributions has been sent out to the entire FIWARE Community, as well as all attendees of the FIWARE Global Summit in Porto. Don’t hesitate to send in your proposal or to distribute the call within your network to contribute to the further success of our global, open event. Be sure to submit your proposal by June 30th, 2018.
