FIWARE Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes the adoption of open standards through the use of open-source technologies for the innovation in smart solutions and Open Data Product Specification (ODPS), a project, hosted by the Linux Foundation, presenting a comprehensive framework for defining, managing, and sharing data products, agreed to jointly adopt the specifications to drive the next wave of interoperable, standards-driven data ecosystems. It aims to empower the growing FIWARE Community and its partners with tools to unlock the full potential of data products in a secure, ethical, and scalable manner.

The collaboration focuses on integrating ODPS’s framework for defining reusable and interoperable data products with FIWARE’s Business API Ecosystem (BAE), which leverages TM Forum specifications to enable the publication of data products and offerings around them, as well as the management of their lifecycle, supporting multiple business models, including monetization. By working together, FIWARE, its community and ODPS aim to simplify the creation of sustainable innovation-driven business ecosystems around data products across multiple industries and communities.

• Enhanced Interoperability: Empowering data product providers with means to create, manage, share and integrate ODPS-compliant data products that integrate seamlessly within data spaces powered by FIWARE.
• Marketplace Innovation: Expanding FIWARE BAE/Marketplace technology to support trading of ODPS-compliant data products, hence scalable, standards-driven solutions.

A collaborative path forward to engage the Community

This collaborative effort of FIWARE Foundation and ODPS will include key joint activities, such as:

• A joint webinar and workshop series will be held for FIWARE Community members to explore the integration of ODPS standards into their solutions.
• A proof-of-concept initiative to demonstrate the potential of using ODPS for describing data products that can be offered through FIWARE Showcase and exposed in data spaces powered by FIWARE.
• Community-driven innovation challenges inspire developers and stakeholders to create new data products using the combined strengths of ODPS and FIWARE.
