FIWARE Zone, a program that brings together the Smart initiatives of Andalusia and FIWARE, participated in this year’s edition of the Andalucía Digital Week (ADW). The event, which was held in Sevilla, Spain on March 12th, 13th and 14th, brought together the most important companies and institutions of the community in terms of new technologies and digital content.
FIWARE Zone participated in the exhibition area, where it presented the joint initiative run by Telefonica and the Junta de Andalucía, the Regional Government of Andalusia, under the ‘Andalucía Smart’ program. The attendees were introduced to different use cases based on FIWARE technology, from various startups and companies that have participated in the program: Linea Ciudadana, Sensowave, Wellness Telecom, Becheckin, Secmotic, Ciclogreen and Gymcraft.
Andalusia Digital Week was dedicated to three sectors, Smart Cities, Agrifood and Industry 4.0, spread over the three days.
The first day, His Majesty the King D. Felipe VI, accompanied by the President of the Junta de Andalucía, Susana Díaz, the Ministry of Justice, Rafael Catalá; and the mayors of Seville and Malaga, Juan Espadas and Francisco de la Torre, respectively, visited the FIWARE Zone booth. There, guided by Juan Marcelo Gaitán Leiva and Antonio Cabello Bastida, responsible for the initiative, they learned first hand about the different actions that are being carried out by FIWARE Zone, as well as the solutions and products from the companies represented at the stand.
On the second day, the new precision agriculture laboratories that will be launched to meet the needs of researchers and companies in the field of crops, both extensive and intensive, were presented.
In addition, the companies that won the 2017 Challenge IoT of FIWARE Zone presented their advances. Rubén Martín, from Sensowave, who won the “Monitoring and management system for individual animals adapted to different kind of extensive livestock farming” Challenge, and Gregorio Magno, from Ciclogreen, who won the “Monitoring environmental parameters for the improvement of forest fire prevention” Challenge, participated in this slot.
The last day of Andalucía Digital Week was reserved to publicise the new Challenge IoT call for 2018 for companies, with the City of Málaga and the Social Security and Dependency Agency of Andalusia as the winning sponsors of the new challenges: “ACCESS: a city for all” and “Monitoring and learning system of the basic activities of daily life that help the early diagnosis of cognitive deterioration”, respectively. On the last day, a FIWARE workshop was held, allowing attendees to discover and test the technology, specifically the GE Context Broker, STH and Backend Device Management.
