Berlin, 14 March, 2025 – FIWARE Foundation announced today that Alberto Abella, FIWARE Smart Data Modals Owner, is appointed as a new Chief Operating Officer (COO), taking this role on March 20, 2025. Alberto will become a member of the FIWARE Board of Officers, effective immediately.

With extensive experience in the technological industry, curating open licensed data models, and building the tools for easy contribution, use, and management of the open ecosystem, Alberto Abella is well known as a data modeling expert and a high-level R&D European projects coordinator. He received extensive experience in profitability management as an entrepreneur and led different technical areas in multiple companies. Over the last five years, Alberto has been working in FIWARE as a Data Models Expert and Technical Evangelist and has already shown his great work in strategic actions and legal issues, evaluating proposals to develop FIWARE.
