FIWARE, Sensative and ProptechOS join forces to open data silos, drive interoperability for more sustainable smart platforms

Sensative, a leading IoT company, FIWARE Foundation, the non-profit organization that encourages the adoption of open standards using Open Source technologies for the development of smart solutions on a global basis, and ProptechOS, a prominent Proptech platform and RealEstateCore alliance partner, today announced a strategic collaboration to align data models and address the challenges of data fragmentation and limited interoperability in the smart city and real estate sectors.

FIWARE Foundation and RealEstateCore are now working closely with ProptechOS and Sensative to align their data ontologies, enabling FIWARE platforms using the NGSI.v2 and NGSI-LD standard APIs to be compatible with RealEstateCore and Brick Schema. The collaborative effort of all these organisations will provide new capabilities for effective multi domain digitalization, facilitating data sharing and digital interaction across different sectors.

By aligning their respective data models, the organisations aim to:

  • Enable Seamless Data Exchange: The joint initiative will facilitate the smooth flow of information between different platforms and systems, opening up data silos that hinder collaboration and innovation.
  • Foster Greater Digital Collaboration: Through standardized data models, the collaboration will enable diverse stakeholders in the multiple digital ecosystems to work together more effectively, leveraging data-driven insights for smarter decision-making.
  • Unlock New Business Opportunities: The alignment will create a fertile ground for innovation, enabling the development of new digital solutions and services that can capitalize on integrated data, leading to new business opportunities across various sectors.

“This collaboration represents a significant step towards creating a standardized data model that allows the seamless exchange of information between real estate-focused platforms buildings and smart city platforms. The outcome of this collaboration will be released with an open license enabling multiple participants to adopt and to collaborate in its evolution,”

said Chandra Challagonda, CEO of FIWARE.

“By aligning data models, we can successfully achieve interoperability and scalability and flexibility between the real estate and urban infrastructure sectors, ensuring that buildings are not isolated entities but active components of a smart digital ecosystem.”

Erik Wallin, Chief Ecosystem Officer of ProptechOS and one of the architects behind RealEstateCore, emphasized the transformative potential of this alignment:

“By bridging the gap between urban and property data, we are paving the way for smarter and more sustainable cities. This collaboration will unlock immense value for city actors and property owners alike, allowing them to harness data more effectively and create innovative services – we are connecting the buildings with the smart city.”

Mats Pettersson, Chief Technological Officer of Sensative, highlighted the company’s commitment to open data:

“Our goal is to break down data silos and enable true interoperability. By aligning our efforts with RealEstateCore and FIWARE, we create an ecosystem where data can flow freely and securely, empowering smarter decisions and a more resilient urban infrastructure.”

This collaborative effort not only enhances digital capabilities between various platforms but also facilitates the seamless sharing of data across multiple domains, creating a foundation for smarter decision-making and more efficient operations.
