Climate change is the crisis of our time. FIWARE has a lot to say about CLIMATE – and not only to say.

The FIWARE Community recognizes that climate change is impacting societies, economies, and especially people’s daily lives. Today, we can already proudly present a wide portfolio of very concrete applications and solutions with a direct positive impact on climate change.

In December 2019, Gold Member HOPU co-organized, together with FIWARE Foundation, a workshop at the UN Climate Change Conference COP25 in Madrid to discuss the role of “Urban Decision Making to address SDG Goals and Compliance with Climate Change Mitigation Regulation.” Further speakers from the FIWARE ecosystem were invited to bring their expertise: Antonio Jara (HOPU), Juanjo Hierro (FIWARE Foundation), Martin Serrano (Insight Centre for Data Analytics), Thomas Fillis (European Commission), Clara Pezuela (Atos), Arjen Hof (Civity b.v.), Christian Jacobsson (Alpiq), and Salim Boutlendj (Telenet).

With 3 interesting forewords from Emanuele Bompan (Environmental Journalist and Author), Robert Brears (Founder, Our Future Water and Editor-in-chief, the Palgrave Handbook of Climate Resilient Societies), and Ana Torralba Barallat (Urban Mobility and Sustainable Cities Consultant, Learning Designer, and System Innovation Coach), this booklet presents what the FIWARE Community is doing to tackle or minimize the effects of climate change by showcasing 28 solutions. In addition, this edition of the booklet introduces further climate iniatives with FIWARE (Digital for Planet), which you will find after the Powered by FIWARE solutions towards the back of the brochure.
